Phew..... cleared the webs finally!
It's been a while since I updated this space. Come December and all self-promises from the year almost-gone-by come soaring for verification. Hoping to update this more often....no hard promises this year.
Compulsive Hoarding or hoarding disorder is a pattern of behavior that is characterized by the excessive acquisition of and inability or unwillingness to discard large quantities of objects that cover the living areas of the home and cause significant distress or impairment.
I created this illustration while researching on the topic as someone I know has been showing symptoms for a long time. Non-awareness in the society (including 3 doctors staying in the same neighborhood) has only made it worse.
Symptoms of Hoarding Disorder include individuals collecting junk mail, old catalogs, newspapers, worn out cooking equipment, clothes and things that "might" be used one day, broken things/trash, freebies and other promotional products......all cluttering living spaces to an extent that they cannot be used and in worse conditions where they cannot be entered.
This BBC Documentary- Britain's Biggest Hoarders is a good introduction into the lives of compulsive hoarders.
